Position Overview
The Bilingual Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in a healthcare setting, delivering nursing services within an office environment. As an integral member of the care team, this position focuses on enhancing quality standards, optimizing patient flow, and improving overall patient satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Exhibits the necessary knowledge and skills to provide or coordinate appropriate patient care, tailored to the specific nursing practice and office specialty.
- Accurately documents all patient interactions and care in the medical records.
- Engages in telephone triage, gathering relevant clinical information and advising patients based on established protocols.
- Monitors and logs all ordered laboratory and diagnostic tests, ensuring timely communication of results to the healthcare provider.
- Collaborates with the care team for pre-visit planning with the provider.
- Administers medications, including injections, and checks vital signs such as height and weight.
- Assists in reviewing and updating patients' medication histories.
- Supports providers during examinations and procedures, ensuring cleanliness and organization of instruments and rooms.
- Adheres to safety standards and compliance regulations, including OSHA and CLIA.
- Reports patient conditions and responses to treatments or medications to the provider.
- Facilitates patient inquiries regarding prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and referrals.
- Participates in electronic documentation as directed by the provider.
- May enter orders in the electronic medical record system as per provider instructions.
- Conducts approved laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures, ensuring adherence to quality control standards.
- Performs venipuncture and assists in specimen collection for laboratory testing.
- Provides patients with a summary of their visit and instructions for follow-up.
- Manages vaccine and pharmaceutical orders, ensuring compliance with relevant health regulations.
Physical Requirements
This role requires physical stamina, including walking, standing, and lifting. Candidates must be able to lift up to 35 pounds and have intact sensory abilities. Proficiency in Basic English is essential.
Qualifications
Must possess a current Licensed Practical Nurse license in the relevant state. Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program is required, along with preferred experience in a medical office setting. Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
Patient Care Focus
The LPN must demonstrate an understanding of growth and development principles and possess the skills necessary to cater to the diverse needs of the patient population.
Confidentiality and Compliance
Access to protected health information (PHI) is limited to what is necessary for job functions, with strict adherence to confidentiality protocols.
Equipment Utilization
Familiarity with relevant office equipment and supplies is essential for this role.
