The Senior Accounting Specialist role is essential for managing daily accounting functions, including the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, maintaining a robust accounting record system, and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This position reports directly to the Accounting Supervisor. An ideal candidate will possess strong communication, organizational, and analytical capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting is mandatory.
  • 1-3 years of experience in general and accrual-based accounting is highly preferred.
  • Experience in accrual-based accounting within the Healthcare/Medical sector is strongly preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and the ability to apply financial concepts accurately.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (including Pivot Tables and V-lookups).
  • Familiarity with other Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Exceptional critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience in healthcare accounting and intercompany transactions is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Saage Intact software is preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible and adaptable mindset.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable: Support the Accounts Payable Specialist with various functions, including vendor management, invoice entry, email monitoring, Form W-9 updates, and annual Form 1099 processing.

Accounts Receivable: Assist the Accounts Receivable Specialist with cash receipts, allocations, reconciliations, and check deposits.

Lease Accounting: Help maintain iLeasePro software for new leases and ensure accurate entries in the accounting system.

Monthly GL Close/Balance Sheet Accounts: Aid in reconciling balance sheet accounts monthly, ensuring accuracy in inputs, and preparing reports and journal entries as necessary. Ensure adherence to GAAP.

Provide assistance to the Accounting Manager during month-end closing activities.

Analyze cost center variances and provide insightful commentary regarding trends and budgets.

Support quarterly and year-end financial audit processes.

Evaluate current practices and suggest improvements.

Conduct ad hoc analyses and projects as required.
