Job Title: Manager Training

SEPTA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager Training to lead our training initiatives and ensure that our Maintenance employees receive the highest quality training.

Job Summary:

The Manager Training will be responsible for directing all activities related to training for all Maintenance employees, ensuring that training programs are developed, implemented, and executed efficiently and effectively. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of training principles, including program development, delivery, assessment, and adult learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct the development, implementation, and execution of all operational, core, and craft-specific skill training to ensure that all SEPTA employees have the skills needed to perform their duties safely and efficiently.
  • Develop specialized and advanced training programs in accordance with client demands, needs analysis, and maintenance data.
  • Prepare, adapt, and implement basic programs to specific applications using objective-guided course evaluations.
  • Research, develop, and/or procure instructional materials required for technical training.
  • Assess student proficiency and progress by preparing, evaluating, and administering oral, written, and task performance tests.
  • Direct the development, implementation, and execution of training programs designed to instruct all Maintenance personnel on existing and new safety rules, maintenance, and inspection procedures and regulatory laws and policies.
  • Direct the development, implementation, and execution of all certification and recertification training programs to ensure all SEPTA employees are compliant with Authority rules, local, state, and federal regulations and approved industry standards.
  • Provide consultation resources to ensure that the training of all Maintenance personnel meets and complies with the Authority rules, local, state, and federal regulations, and approved industry standards.
  • Consult with senior management to develop and implement a uniform set of standards for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and inspection of all new and current vehicles and equipment.
  • Consult with senior management to identify any special training needed for new vehicles, equipment, revenue tariffs, customer service, and any update procedures affecting hourly and SAM employees.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Education, or related field and eight (8) years of experience in Maintenance (VEM or EM&C) required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the above requirements.
  • Working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, Local, and Authority rules and regulations in all requisite modal areas required.
  • Thorough understanding of training principles, including program development, delivery, assessment, and adult learning required.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong analytical skills.
  • Strong negotiating and consensus-building skills required.
  • An ability to exercise a high level of independent judgment and decision-making in a changing environment required.
  • Ability to manage and organize a diverse workforce of technical/professional employees.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and coordination skills to plan, direct, control, and implement programs that are required to ensure Authority compliance.
  • Must be able to work in a high-profile, high-pressure environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to foster effective teamwork and motivation required.
  • Excellent computer skills required - Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint).
