Job Summary

Tesla is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join our Self-Driving Hardware team. As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for designing and developing the computing hardware that enables our autonomous driving capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop complex high-speed boards that deliver compute performance while meeting efficiency, cost, reliability, and safety goals.
  • Interface with sensory elements to provide vital inputs for self-driving decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including PCB layout, firmware, reliability, program management, mechanical, and EMC teams.
  • Develop and document design requirements, calculations, power budgets, and validation plans.
  • Design for manufacturing, design for test, and design for EMC.
  • Develop and maintain thorough documentation of design processes and results.

Requirements

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of relevant circuit board design experience.
  • Demonstrated depth in end-to-end PCBA design.
  • Strong knowledge of high-speed board design (>5Gbps) and interfaces (DDR, PCIe, MIPI, etc.).
  • Experience with high-performance processor, memory, storage, network IO-based complex motherboard design.
  • Good understanding of analog and power circuits (MOSFETs, op-amps, switching regulators, gate drivers, etc.).
  • Proficiency with EE tools (oscilloscopes, BERT, network analyzers, signal generators, etc.).
  • Experience shipping high-volume electronics products.
  • Design for mission-critical systems (fail-safe, redundancy).
  • Basic programming and scripting ability.
