Wound Care Specialist

Position Overview:
As a Wound Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting the Wound Care Department by assisting with the management of wound care needs within inpatient settings. Your collaboration with the Wound Care Team will be essential in providing clinical assistance to nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with Wound Care Nurses and bedside personnel to enhance local workflows, including prevention strategies and the execution of wound care protocols.
2. Monitor the progress and healing of wounds, performing basic wound care procedures as necessary.
3. Identify and escalate any wound-related concerns to the Wound Care Nursing team.
4. Maintain and manage wound care equipment effectively.
5. Utilize technology to aid in the prevention of hospital-acquired pressure injuries (HAPI), as well as in the identification and treatment of wounds.
6. Ensure a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and their families, adhering to hospital standards.
7. Demonstrate appropriate emergency response and patient safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
- BLS certification must be valid for at least sixty days post-hire.
