Job Summary

The Early Interventionist provides direct developmental therapy services to children with hearing and speech needs through home or community-based environments and/or virtually.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides direct patient care under the guidelines of the Tennessee Early Intervention System.
  • Implements services with children and families using knowledge of strategies of Family Guided Routines Based Intervention (FGRBI).
  • Completes routinely scheduled assessments using the Social Communication Emotional Regulation Transactional Supports (SCERTS) and Assessment, Evaluation, and Programming System (AEPS).
  • Manages program data using Tennessee's Early Intervention Data System (TEIDS) related to grant requirements.
  • Manages patient charts including session documentation, correspondence, records request, letters to other professionals, and maintains files in compliance with licensure regulations.
  • Establishes and maintains collaboration with other professionals providing services for PLC clients, including attendance at Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) meetings, Transition meetings, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings.
  • Attends PLC professional meetings; participates in activities to remain current with evidence-based practice needed for programming and to maintain grant requirements.
  • Travels to home and community sites to provide services as indicated on the children's IFSP (If TEIS determines home-visiting to be safe).
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Speech Language Pathology, Early Childhood Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Studies (child development), Early Intervention, Deaf Education or Visual Disabilities, Special Education K-12, Elementary Education, Communication Disorders or related field.

Experience: Three (3) years documented experience working with children with disabilities 0-5 years of age and their families; OR Master's Degree and one (1) year of documented experience working with children with disabilities 0-5 years of age and their families.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability and skill to provide assessment/treatment services to children with developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge of basic communication principles and parameters.
  • Skilled in implementing clinical practices of developmental therapy.
  • Ability to display an attitude of sensitivity to the needs of clients as members of larger familial, cultural, linguistic, and social systems.
