As a Cybersecurity Systems Assurance Specialist, you will:

  • Support the information assurance program for a specific program, organization, or system.
  • Assist in proposing, coordinating, implementing, and enforcing security policies, standards, and methodologies.
  • Maintain the operational security posture of information systems to ensure compliance with established security policies and procedures.
  • Manage the security aspects of the information system and oversee daily security operations.
  • Evaluate security solutions to ensure they meet the requirements for handling classified information.
  • Conduct vulnerability and risk assessments to facilitate certification and accreditation processes.
  • Provide configuration management for security software, hardware, and firmware.
  • Assess the security impact of system changes and manage those changes effectively.
  • Prepare and review essential documentation, including System Security Plans (SSPs), Risk Assessment Reports, and Certification and Accreditation (C&A) packages.
  • Support security authorization activities in accordance with NSA/CSS Information System Certification and Accreditation Process (NISCAP) and DoD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP).

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience as an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) on programs and contracts of similar scope and complexity.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution is required. Alternatively, four (4) years of additional ISSO experience may substitute for the degree.
  • Experience must include at least two (2) of the following areas: current security tools, hardware/software security implementation, communication protocols, and encryption techniques/tools.
  • Compliance with DoD 8570 Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level I or higher is mandatory.
