Job Overview

Position: Senior Petroleum Service Technician

Compensation: Based on experience

Work Location: Des Moines, IA

Midwest Petroleum Equipment is expanding its operations and is in search of a dedicated, skilled, and knowledgeable individual to fill the role of Senior Petroleum Service Technician. This position involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical petroleum systems and equipment (including but not limited to Gilbarco, Veeder-Root, Passport, EVO). The ideal candidate should be proactive and capable of working independently with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and execute repairs and preventative maintenance on fuel dispensers and associated systems.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain Point of Sale (POS) systems.
  • Oversee and ensure the accuracy of parts inventory.
  • Evaluate electronic and mechanical issues and implement necessary repairs.
  • Install, configure, and test new equipment.
  • Engage with clients to explain technical matters in understandable terms.
  • Exhibit professionalism and punctuality during service visits.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience as a petroleum service technician (mandatory)
  • Certification in Gilbarco or Wayne dispenser service (mandatory)
  • Minimum age of 21 years
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Work Schedule:

  • This is a full-time role, operating Monday through Friday.
  • Includes rotating on-call responsibilities (one week every two months).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Position entails bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing ladders.
  • Demonstrated integrity and professional ethics.
  • Familiarity with online mapping and dispatch systems.
  • Capability to foster relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
