OSP Construction Inspector Job Description

Windstream is seeking a highly skilled OSP Construction Inspector to join our team. As an OSP Construction Inspector, you will be responsible for coordinating between engineering, permitting, material acquisition, and construction of outside plant construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the post-sale end-to-end service delivery process of our SMB Fiber to the premise customer orders, including coordination with all resources required to ensure customer service is activated efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with city, county, and state permitting agencies to ensure permits are being executed and closed properly and timely.
  • Interface with public and other utilities to ensure project success.
  • Work with private property owners, such as individuals and railroad companies, to secure easements and licenses.
  • Work with telephone companies and private building owners to secure building entrance approval and installation of building entrances.
  • Recommend contractors and monitor contractor progress, quality, and safety inspection, and timely turnover of assigned projects.
  • Monitor and ensure SSP (Single Source Provider) is on track to meet service level agreements.
  • Summarize potential solutions and make logical recommendations to management.
  • Read and interpret construction documents, including prints and plans, as well as splicing diagrams used in the splicing of fiber optics.
  • Review preliminary construction prints from right-of-way authorities and determine potential conflicts; attend utility coordination meetings and construction progress meetings as needed.
  • Conduct quality and safety reviews.
Requirements:
  • Aptitude to learn quickly and adjust rapidly to developing business needs.
  • Excellent organizational, detail-oriented, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong and effective technical communication skills, both verbally and written.
  • Ability to analyze problems and priorities and make decisions.
  • Ability to provide recommendations for process improvements.
  • Ability to be assertive and escalate with various internal departments and external teams as needed to maintain proper workflow for customer orders.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to contribute equally as an individual contributor or in a team environment.
  • Experience collaborating directly with customers and possess the ability to speak with customers in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CAD/E, MicroStation, AutoCAD, or other similar design programs.
  • Previous Outside Plant Construction Management experience.
  • Experience working with city, county, and/or State agencies.
