Job Summary:

Windstream is seeking a skilled Construction Tech Splicer to join our team. As a key member of our construction crew, you will be responsible for splicing and installing fiber optic cables, ensuring the highest quality and reliability of our network.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Splice and install fiber optic cables in both outdoor and indoor settings
  • Read and create splicing schematics and diagrams
  • Maintain control of outside plant activities and support project timelines
  • Ensure the safety of the crew and maintain a safe working environment
  • Perform daily record keeping and update drawings as needed
  • Maintain material inventory and perform DOT vehicle inspections

Requirements:
  • 1 year of copper and/or fiber cable splicing experience or related trade school certification
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, year-round
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights
  • Valid driver's license and minimum qualifications to obtain a CDL
  • Ability to pass DOT certification

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5 or more years of experience, including pole climbing
  • OSHA 10 Hour Safety Course and Buck Squeeze (Pole Climbing Certifications)
  • Proficient at operating various construction equipment

Working Environment:
  • Test equipment, ladders, climbing hooks, hand and power tools, van, buried power equipment, digger derrick, and other applicable heavy-duty equipment
