Role Summary:
The Principal Epic Application Analyst is responsible for creating and enhancing applications that fulfill user needs and align with business objectives. This role involves identifying improvement opportunities, making recommendations, and designing and implementing effective solutions. The Principal Analyst manages multiple complex projects simultaneously and provides technical guidance and mentorship to application analyst teams. Responsibilities include overseeing workload distribution, prioritizing support tasks, and monitoring productivity metrics. This position serves as a vital link between IT, operational teams, and facilities, facilitating the development and implementation of technical solutions to optimize the Epic system's effectiveness. The Principal Analyst also collaborates closely with other leaders to ensure consistent support for enterprise initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in daily planning, operations, and problem-solving to help the team achieve defined Key Performance Indicators and service levels.
  • Support team development to ensure consistent productivity and performance, monitoring individual contributions and recommending professional growth opportunities.
  • Organize resource planning, including workload allocation and prioritization, while defining deadlines and coordinating task completion.
  • Identify new opportunities for process and system enhancements, promoting critical thinking and independent problem-solving within the team.
  • Act as a change agent, fostering enthusiasm for new initiatives and projects.
  • Provide ongoing mentorship in technical and professional development areas.
  • Utilize project management standards to lead IT projects, setting direction, coordinating activities across functions, and implementing risk mitigation plans as necessary.
  • Communicate project statuses, optimizations, and upgrades to staff, management, and stakeholders.
  • Participate in application discovery, build, documentation, training, and testing as required.
  • Conduct periodic audits of system builds and documentation to ensure consistent production support.
  • Be available for on-call coverage after hours and on weekends as needed.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • This position is eligible for remote work.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Five years of experience in systems analysis, programming, or design, with at least four years on the Epic platform.
  • Seven years of relevant experience in application support, implementation, or development within a healthcare setting.
  • Comprehensive understanding of healthcare operations and third-party application integration.
  • Proven technical and analytical skills for troubleshooting within Epic.
  • Epic certification in the supported areas (Cadence/Prelude) is required.
  • Cross-certification or proficiency in other Epic modules is preferred.
  • Commitment to ongoing maintenance of Epic certifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise effectively between IT and operational teams to address enterprise needs.
  • Knowledge of Epic best practices throughout the full lifecycle, including configuration, change control, testing, and operations.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring team members.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Adaptability to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
