Job Title: Orthopedic Perioperative Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Orthopedic Perioperative Nurse to join our team at Spire Orthopedic Partners. As a key member of our perioperative team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring a smooth surgical experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate the process of patient management in the surgical center.
  • Participate in making pre-op calls to patients as needed.
  • Collaborate with front office staff on intake process as required.
  • Assist with pre-op assessment and teaching.
  • Plan and prepare for intraoperative nursing care of the patient.
  • Gather equipment and supplies based on patient needs.
  • Create and maintain multiple sterile fields, observing and enforcing strict standards of asepsis.
  • Function in the role of Scrub and Circulating nurse.
  • Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts as required.
  • Administer medications and solutions as prescribed.
  • Position and prepare patient on operating table.
  • Monitor and control the environment, adhering to safety standards and precautions.
  • Delegate duties only to competent and appropriate personnel.
  • Participate in maintaining and assuring proper functioning of equipment and sterilizing procedures.
  • Perform in emergency situations.
  • Evaluate readiness for patient discharge and collaborate with anesthesiologist in discharge process.
  • Report any potential or actual adverse event as appropriate.
  • Document clearly and maintain patient record.
  • Maintain pleasant and open communication with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Minimum two years of recent operating room nursing experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of office equipment and software.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, policies, procedures, and other regulatory policies.
  • Medical office procedures, policies, practices, and medical terminology, telephone protocol, and professional etiquette.
  • Understanding of electronic medical systems.
