Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and talented Pacu Nurse to join our team. As a Pacu Nurse, you will provide safe and effective perioperative nursing care for ambulatory care patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the process of patient management in the surgical center.
  • Participate in making pre-op calls to patients.
  • Collaborate with front office staff on intake process as needed.
  • Assist with pre-op assessment and teaching.
  • Plan and prepare for interoperative nursing care of the patient.
  • Function as a Scrub and Circulating nurse.
  • Provide equipment and supplies based on patient needs.
  • Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts as required.
  • Administer medications and solutions as prescribed.
  • Perform in emergency situations.
  • Monitor and control the environment.
  • Participate in maintaining and assuring proper functioning of equipment and sterilizing procedures.
  • Delegate duties only to competent and appropriate personnel.
  • Perform responsibilities of post-anesthesia care and conduct discharge teaching.
  • Evaluate readiness for patient discharge and collaborate with the anesthesiologist in the discharge process.
  • Report any potential or actual adverse event as appropriate.
  • Document clearly and maintain the patient record.
  • Maintain pleasant and open communication with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Minimum one year of recent Pre/Pacu nursing experience.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.
  • Working knowledge of office equipment and software.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, insurance regulations, policies, procedures, and other regulatory policies.
  • Medical office procedures, policies, practices, and medical terminology, telephone protocol, and professional etiquette.
  • Understanding of electronic medical systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain enthusiasm while facing a high volume and a large variety of duties.
  • Ability and interest in learning procedures and software functionalities that could improve the effectiveness and efficiency of individual and department efforts.
  • Organized, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Extremely reliable, patient, and professional.
  • Reacts calmly and effectively under stress.
  • Interprets, adapts, and applies guidelines and procedures appropriately.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective and professional working relationships with patients, medical staff, coworkers, and the public by demonstrating empathy and tact.
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude, the ability to work effectively with a diverse population, and the ability to demonstrate patience and professionalism.
  • Promotes teamwork through collaboration, represents the practice in a professional manner, and maintains the strictest confidentiality on all patient issues.
