Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Orthopedic Perioperative Nurse to join our team at Spire Orthopedic Partners. As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for providing safe and effective perioperative nursing care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the process of patient management in the surgical center
  • Participate in making pre-op calls to patients as needed
  • Collaborate with front office staff on intake process as needed
  • Assist with pre-op assessment and teaching
  • Plan and prepare for interoperative nursing care of the patient
  • Gather equipment and supplies based on patient needs
  • Function as Scrub and Circulating nurse
  • Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts as required
  • Administer medications and solutions as prescribed
  • Position and prepare patient on operating table
  • Monitor and control the environment, adhering to safety standards and precautions
  • Delegate duties to competent personnel
  • Participate in maintaining and assuring proper functioning of equipment and sterilizing procedures
  • Perform in emergency situations
  • Evaluate readiness for patient discharge and collaborate with anesthesiologist in discharge process
  • Report any potential or actual adverse event as appropriate
  • Document clearly and maintain patient record
  • Maintain pleasant and open communication with patients, families, staff, and physicians
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Minimum two years of recent operating room nursing experience
  • Working knowledge of office equipment and software
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, policies, procedures, and other regulatory policies
  • Medical office procedures, policies, practices, and medical terminology
  • Understanding of electronic medical systems
