Job Summary:

As a Senior Diagnostic Medical Sonographer II at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care through the use of advanced ultrasound technology. Under indirect supervision, you will perform a variety of diagnostic medical sonography exams, including abdominal and OB/Gynecology ultrasound examinations, utilizing complex ultrasound equipment and transducers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service by maintaining a professional behavior toward members and coworkers, creating a positive image for the department, and responding to the needs of others.
  • Perform diagnostic medical sonography exams, including routine abdomen, abdomen Doppler, small parts, thyroid, obstetrics/gynecology, amniocenteses, fetal echocardiography, interventional procedures, breast studies, portable intra-operative studies, and portable neonatal studies.
  • Consistently select correct technical factors relative to the requirements of the study and the patient's age and body habitus, and process hard copy images properly using automated equipment.
  • Exercise good clinical judgment, consult with radiologists or other clinicians as needed, and document clinical activities in a timely, comprehensive, and accurate manner.
  • Provide effective functional direction to assigned staff, assign work to staff appropriately, and communicate effectively with other departments to promote positive interdepartmental relationships.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited ultrasound program or a graduate from a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program with two (2) years of experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in a major medical center.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Abdomen, Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Breast, Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Ob-Gyn, and Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
  • Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three (3) years experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in a major medical center.
  • Experience with Acuson Sequoia, Philips iu-22, and Clickview ultrasound reporting package.
Notes:

Current weekly schedule includes three days of senior duties and two days of scanning. Shifts, hours, and/or locations may vary based on operational need.
