Job Summary

The Cardiac Sonographer Specialist performs advanced cardiac ultrasound services and procedures for adult patients, utilizing a variety of equipment and techniques to obtain comprehensive and diagnostic echocardiograms. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cardiac anatomy and physiology, as well as the ability to explain the purpose of the echocardiographic examination to patients and answer their questions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for procedures and obtain clinical history to adapt imaging techniques and obtain comprehensive and diagnostic echocardiograms.
  • Perform advanced cardiac ultrasound procedures, making necessary measurements and identifying and defining cardiac abnormalities.
  • Assist physicians in procedure rooms and operating rooms by performing echocardiograph studies to aid in complex procedures.
  • Record statistics and perform daily maintenance of the Echocardiography Lab and its equipment.
  • Act as a resource to other staff, physicians, and students regarding equipment, techniques, procedures, and studies to optimize patient care.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited program or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification.
  • Less than 1 year of experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification.
