Overview

Crosstown Plumbing, a reputable plumbing store in East Orange, NJ, seeks a skilled Customer Service Coordinator to join its team. This role is ideal for an individual with excellent customer service skills and experience handling transactions.

Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate can expect a competitive salary between $19.00/hour and $22.00/hour, along with comprehensive benefits including robust health coverage, vision insurance, dental insurance, paid time off, 401k program, growth opportunities, training opportunities, and an annual holiday party.

Job Responsibilities

This key role involves:

  • Answering Crosstown's phone lines and directing callers to the relevant staff member;
  • Processing customer payments in-person and over the phone using the correct payment method (credit card, account, cash, or check);
  • Keying in and verifying order details, including account name, account number, amount, and payment type;
  • Managing pick-up orders at the register, from coordinating with the sales team to obtaining signatures;
  • Compiling and balancing daily receipts to ensure accuracy;
  • Emailing customer forms as needed (credit application, account setup, authorization, etc.);
  • Developing strong working relationships with customers and colleagues;
  • Monitoring the change drawer for accuracy and notifying the accounting team if additional funds are required;
  • Updating and maintaining daily spreadsheets to track monetary transactions;
  • Handling paper and electronic filing, scanning delivery records, ensuring all accounts are reconciled and accurate, and resolving payment discrepancies;
  • Maintaining office supplies for employee use;
  • Providing exceptional customer service.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants should possess:

  • At least 2 years of experience in roles requiring both customer interaction and transaction processing (e.g., bank teller, receptionist, etc.);
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent; an Associate's degree or higher is preferred;
  • Experience with high-value transactions involving multiple payment methods;
  • Strong mathematical skills and proficiency with calculators;
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction;
  • Ability to work overtime and weekend shifts;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills;
  • Professional phone demeanor;
  • Good problem-solving skills with patience and courtesy;
  • Teamwork and respect for colleagues;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
