Job Overview

Serenity Healthcare is seeking a seasoned In-House Counsel to lead all legal activities and provide strategic guidance to key stakeholders. As a trusted advisor, you will ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, drive business growth, and mitigate risks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contract Management: Review, negotiate, and manage provider and employment contracts to protect the company's interests.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Provide counsel on HIPAA, fraud and abuse laws, Stark and anti-kickback issues, and licensure matters to ensure Serenity Healthcare's compliance.
  • Business Development: Build state-compliant models, conduct regulatory diligence, and oversee existing and future markets to drive business growth.
  • Real Estate Agreements: Review, negotiate, and approve real estate agreements, including leases, to support the company's expansion.
  • Labor and Employment: Manage labor and employment-related disputes, create policies and procedures, and mitigate HR-related risks.
  • Executive Support: Serve as a resource for the executive team, providing legal guidance on departmental matters.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Assist in ensuring awareness of and compliance with applicable laws and company policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of corporate or operational healthcare experience.
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one state bar where Serenity Healthcare is active, preferably Arizona or Texas.
  • Ability to identify and manage legal risks within the healthcare environment, including those related to insurance, patient care, operations, and financial matters.
  • Expertise in negotiating and drafting contracts, including employment agreements, payor contracts, corporate leases, and service vendor contracts.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks governing healthcare and experience developing and implementing compliance programs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various departments, including operations, HR, marketing, revenue cycle & billing, finance, and IT.
