My client, a reputable automotive retailer, is looking to expand their legal team This person will have the opportunity to work directly with the Vice President, Chief Counsel and will have the opportunity to grow out the company's real estate portfolio. As Real Estate Counsel, you will provide legal guidance and support on a variety of real estate transactions and projects, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations while aligning with the companys strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate, draft, and review real estate agreements, including purchase and sale agreements, leases, and development agreements.
  • Ensure that all real estate transactions comply with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of Hertzs business, real estate, and facilities, and serve as a trusted partner by providing practical, risk-based legal counsel and guidance.
  • Provide daily legal support to the companys Real Estate and Construction teams, including advice and counsel on leasing, environmental, facilities and land use matters.
  • Structure, draft, review, and negotiate real estate leases, lease amendments, land use related agreements, construction agreements, and other documentation including coordination with business partners and other subject matter experts as needed.
  • Conduct legal due diligence for property acquisitions and dispositions, including reviewing title reports, surveys, and environmental assessments.
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with real estate transactions and projects.
  • Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders on real estate matters, including land use, zoning, and property management issues.
  • Oversee the negotiation and execution of real estate contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Work closely with other departments, including finance, development, and operations, to support real estate initiatives and projects.
  • Maintain and organize legal documents and records related to real estate transactions and projects.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a law firm or corporate law department. Experience in real estate law commercial contract negotiation and management required; experience with land use, construction, and environmental law is preferred.
  • Required to be admitted to the bar and in good standing in Florida or admitted to the bar and in good standing in another state and eligible for limited licensure of in-house counsel in Florida.
  • J.D. with strong academic credentials.
  • Able to cooperatively work with management, colleagues in the legal department, internal stakeholders across multiple functions, and outside counsel.
