Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Clerk Coordinator to join our team at Bellevue Hospital. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring seamless patient registration and billing processes. As a Medical Clerk Coordinator, you will be responsible for conducting patient interviews, obtaining identifying information, and entering it accurately into our Unity system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct patient interviews to obtain demographic, biographic, and insurance information, and enter it accurately into the Unity system.
  • Obtain signatures on registration forms, including TPO, Bill of Rights, HIPPA Notice of Privacy, Health Care Proxy, and General Consents.
  • Verify patients' eligibility for Medicaid or HHC Options and access their coverage information.
  • Accept patient payments and issue receipts via the unity cash management function.
  • Verify third-party coverage and obtain authorization when required.
  • Scan insurance cards, Photo IDs, and other supporting documentation.
  • Generate medical record numbers for new patients and perform systems checks to verify insurance coverage.
  • Review patient information based on documentation provided by patients and provide guidance on hospital policies.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent and six months of full-time satisfactory clerical experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, staff, and external vendors.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records systems and software applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Bilingual English/Cantonese is preferred but not required.
