Job Overview

The Process Engineer II plays a crucial role in overseeing, diagnosing, and enhancing manufacturing processes within the plant. This position focuses on boosting equipment reliability, enhancing productivity, ensuring product quality, and maintaining process safety. The aim is to minimize downtime, reduce costs, and optimize utility usage while developing innovative solutions to recurring process challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze operational conditions, production rates, quality, and yield to support Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) metrics.
  • Recommend modifications to processes that enhance plant performance and lower expenses.
  • Ensure proper design and installation of new machinery.
  • Conduct specialized process studies and safety projects.
  • Implement improvements to production procedures and documentation.

Duties Include:

  • Identifying opportunities to enhance safety, productivity, quality, and cost through process condition monitoring.
  • Gaining a comprehensive understanding of the process by reviewing training manuals, SOPs, and other relevant documentation.
  • Collaborating with production supervisors, technical staff, maintenance teams, and operators to leverage operational knowledge.
  • Utilizing statistical tools to assist in resolving process issues.
  • Exploring innovative solutions to existing process challenges.
  • Reviewing daily shift reports and maintaining communication with the control room to assist the production team in troubleshooting.
  • Planning and executing trials for new products or grades as necessary.
  • Proposing changes to existing processes and managing the Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Updating process safety information records, including P&IDs and equipment details.
  • Leading problem-solving teams and participating in safety studies.
  • Designing new equipment and evaluating existing installations.
  • Requesting vendor quotes for new or replacement equipment.
  • Collaborating with project engineering on new capital projects and coordinating production-related tasks.
  • Preparing environmental compliance reports.
  • Maintaining a safe work environment by engaging in safety programs and conducting audits.
  • Identifying and mitigating occupational and process safety hazards.
  • Developing knowledge of plant process control systems to analyze data and troubleshoot issues.
  • Conducting training for personnel on new systems and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a production or engineering role within a chemical processing facility.
  • Ability to perform tasks with moderate complexity effectively and efficiently.
  • Experience in process efficiency and improvement in daily operations.
  • Strong collaboration and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to corporate social responsibility policies and practices.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
