Job Overview

The Process Engineer II plays a crucial role in overseeing, diagnosing, and enhancing manufacturing operations. This position focuses on boosting equipment reliability, enhancing plant efficiency, ensuring product excellence, and maintaining process safety. The goal is to minimize downtime, reduce operational costs, and innovate solutions for recurring process challenges.

In this role, the individual will be responsible for gathering essential data and insights, employing engineering methodologies, statistical evaluations, and leveraging technical expertise in collaboration with production and maintenance teams, as well as external vendors and specialists to optimize plant performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and analyze operational conditions, production metrics, quality, and yield to support Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) objectives.
  • Recommend process modifications to enhance plant performance and reduce expenses.
  • Ensure proper design and installation of new machinery.
  • Conduct specialized process studies, projects, and safety initiatives.
  • Implement enhancements to production protocols and documentation.
Core Duties
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, productivity, quality, and cost through process monitoring.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the process by reviewing training materials, standard operating procedures, and process safety information.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors, technical staff, maintenance, and operators to utilize operational and process knowledge effectively.
  • Utilize statistical tools and process control methods to address process challenges.
  • Seek innovative solutions to existing operational issues.
  • Review daily reports and maintain communication with the control room to assist the production team in troubleshooting.
  • Plan and execute trials for new products or grades as necessary.
  • Propose changes to current processes and manage the change process accordingly.
  • Update process safety documentation, including equipment details and safety systems.
  • Lead problem-solving initiatives and participate in hazard assessments.
  • Design or evaluate new equipment and installations.
  • Request vendor quotes for new or replacement equipment.
  • Coordinate with project engineering on new capital projects and manage production-related tasks.
  • Prepare environmental compliance reports.
  • Contribute to a safe working environment by engaging in safety programs and conducting audits.
  • Identify and mitigate occupational and process safety risks.
  • Develop proficiency in plant process control systems to analyze data and troubleshoot issues.
  • Conduct training for personnel on new systems and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a production or engineering capacity within a chemical processing facility.
  • Ability to perform tasks with moderate complexity effectively and efficiently.
  • Experience in process improvement in daily operations.
  • Strong collaboration and negotiation skills with stakeholders.
  • Ability to mentor and support less experienced team members.
  • Commitment to corporate social responsibility policies and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
