Position Overview
The Beverage Shift Manager at Encore Boston Harbor is responsible for overseeing the performance of all Beverage staff to ensure optimal service delivery. This role requires effective management of Beverage personnel, including pre-shift organization and real-time monitoring of service across various outlets such as restaurants, lounges, and service bars. The Beverage Shift Manager will align departmental strategies with the overarching goals of Encore Boston Harbor, aiming to maximize both departmental and company success while upholding the highest standards of service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and uphold Encore Boston Harbor's core values and departmental standards.
  • Develop and manage short- and long-term departmental objectives, policies, and procedures; assess operational effectiveness and implement necessary improvements.
  • Oversee departmental performance, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in all records and reports.
  • Supervise team members, providing guidance and support to enhance performance.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable laws, promoting a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Deliver exceptional service and satisfaction across the property.
  • Facilitate effective communication through regular meetings with team members and other departments.
  • Manage hiring, performance evaluations, and employee engagement initiatives within the department.
  • Stay informed of industry trends and recommend strategies for departmental success.
  • Address guest and team member concerns with professionalism and tact.
  • Balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Promote positive relations with all team members and external partners.
  • Ensure timely submission of beverage reports.
  • Maintain high morale among team members and foster strong customer relations.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Beverage on special projects and events.
  • Assign staff to various locations based on job requirements and individual capabilities.
  • Evaluate staff performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Prioritize safety and adhere to departmental and company safety standards.
  • Engage in continuous education and training to stay current in the industry.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess or be able to obtain necessary licenses from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
  • Hold relevant certifications, such as ServSafe or equivalent.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree in hospitality management or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of bartending experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in various software applications.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and project management.
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with both union and non-union environments is preferred.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents, respond to inquiries, and present information effectively in various settings. Fluency in English is required; knowledge of a second language is a plus.

Physical Demands:
Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands for various tasks. Must be able to lift or maneuver at least 50 pounds and engage in moderate physical activity.

Work Environment:
The work environment is typically moderate in noise level, with increased noise in certain areas. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary to meet the demands of the hospitality industry.
