Job Overview

Position Title: Driver

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Compensation Range: To Be Determined

Role Summary: Under the guidance of the Transportation Manager, this role is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of individuals with physical limitations to their various destinations. The position necessitates regular communication with caregivers and community organizations.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience: Candidates must be at least 18 years old and possess a minimum of one year of experience working with elderly individuals.

Licensing Requirements: A valid North Carolina Driver's License with a clean driving record, free from major traffic violations.

Specialized Training: Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and operate vehicles designed for accessibility. Must adhere to the scope of practice and meet established competencies as outlined by Kintegra Health and approved by CMS prior to independent work and annually thereafter.

Health Requirements: Must be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations current before engaging in direct contact with participants.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively with participants, families, staff, and external agencies.
  • Be trained to operate various vehicles within the transportation fleet, understanding that driving assignments may vary based on the Transportation Coordinator's instructions.
  • Transport individuals with physical limitations using a specially equipped van, ensuring the proper operation of wheelchair lifts and securement equipment, while adhering to schedules and making adjustments as necessary.
  • Assist participants in boarding and disembarking from vehicles, employing safe techniques and demonstrating proper use and care of medical equipment.
  • Provide door-to-door service, ensuring participants safely exit and enter their residences.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the vehicle, reporting maintenance needs and completing daily inspection checklists.
  • Document fuel receipts as per the Transportation Coordinator's instructions.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to participant care planning as needed.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately.
  • Maintain a safe driving record, with annual verification of a valid North Carolina driver's license.
  • Meet all physical demands of the role, including standing, bending, reaching, and walking for extended periods.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
