Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and passionate Art Teacher to join our team at Rochester Prep. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Art to students in grades K-4/5-8, designing and implementing a coherent and enriching Art experience, and ensuring a safe and optimal work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Art to all students in the school Monday-Thursday each week of the school year.
  • Design, supervise, and implement all aspects of the Art program, including coordinating with outside providers and vendors, maintaining records, and participating in required trainings and certification processes.
  • Assist in the purchase and maintenance of the school's Art equipment.
  • Provide, during summer training, an orientation to all staff on the school's art program, including transitions, standards, and integration.
  • Work with classroom teachers to ensure the integration of academic instruction into Art instruction, particularly Core Knowledge social studies and science curricula.
  • Engage families in their children's education, including involving families in periodic student Art concerts.
  • Participate actively in department meetings, faculty meetings, and other meetings.
  • Meet the school's "Standards for Excellence in Art Instruction" and "Standards for Excellence in Instruction".
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 5 or higher during your employment with us if you do not have a degree in education.
  • A demonstrated commitment to supporting students' social emotional and academic development.
  • A demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities.

The starting pay will depend on various factors that may include but are not limited to professional experience, education, training, certifications, tenure with Uncommon Schools, and work location.

Because we value staff tenure in each role, we do not currently cap salary ranges.

Ranges may differ for staff who work from a location other than Rochester.
