JOB SUMMARY:

The Bartender Apprentice is responsible for supporting all functions of the bar, ensuring a seamless experience from preparation to service. The apprentice will assist the Bartender in serving beverages to patrons and will be accountable for managing stock and supplies effectively.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepares beverages according to established recipes and portion sizes.
  • Mixes drinks following standard guidelines.
  • Handles cash transactions and operates the cash register efficiently.
  • Demonstrates excellent timing and adjusts workflow as necessary.
  • Utilizes resources wisely to maintain low beverage costs.
  • Sets up bar service items and oversees inventory management.
  • Cleans spills promptly and takes cocktail orders accurately.
  • Processes payments for drinks, conducts register counts, and logs inventory usage.
  • Maintains the bar's appearance and ensures it is ready for service.
  • Addresses customer needs with professionalism and respect.
  • Adheres to safety protocols and grooming standards.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 1 year of bartending experience preferred.
  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program is required.
  • Familiarity with beverages, glassware, and garnishes.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Professional and tidy appearance.
  • Ability to interact positively with customers and colleagues.
  • Accurate handling of cash transactions.
  • Availability for a flexible work schedule.
  • Basic skills in reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Completion of a specialized bartending school is a plus.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Capability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform repetitive reaching and stooping motions.
  • Visual acuity to measure ingredients precisely.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
  • Ability to lift at least 20lbs frequently.
  • Professional handling of intoxicated guests and tolerance for tobacco smoke.
  • Shifts may vary based on operational needs.
