Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Director of Development to join our team at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business. This is a key leadership role that will play a critical part in helping us meet our fundraising objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of major gift and principal prospects, with a focus on securing gifts of $50,000 or more.
  • Make at least 100 visits per year, with a goal of raising $1M+ annually through major gift solicitations.
  • Supervise 2 major gift officers and collaborate with key stakeholders across the Smith School and University Relations.
  • Develop and implement strategies for joint solicitation and negotiation with fundraising colleagues.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • A minimum of 7 years of successful progressive development/fundraising experience, with a track record of closing five and six-figure gifts.
  • Experience identifying, cultivating, and directly soliciting major gifts, with a strong working knowledge of academic development.
  • Management experience and ability to coach a team to achieve results.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within campaigns and managing development professionals.
  • Understanding of business concepts and a Master's degree.
