Leadperson Job Overview

Powell Houston-Canton is actively looking for a Leadperson to oversee the assembly operations at our manufacturing facility. The Leadperson plays a crucial role in managing the assembly line, ensuring that production goals are achieved while maintaining high-quality standards. This position involves supervising a team of assemblers, providing guidance and support to enhance their performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate daily assembly activities.
  • Train and mentor new employees, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities.
  • Communicate daily priorities and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and lead 5S projects.
  • Review production documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in the hiring process and evaluate employee performance.
  • Facilitate safety and quality meetings, emphasizing a culture of safety.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with system software for tracking parts and drawings.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs using proper techniques.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong understanding of engineering change orders and mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficient in managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Commitment to maintaining safety standards and quality assurance.

Working Environment

  • This position is safety-sensitive and requires adherence to safety protocols.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights and using ladders.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to maintain balance and agility in various positions.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and use of hand tools.
  • Must meet physical demands, including lifting and carrying.
