The Field Service Technician specializing in combustion turbines is tasked with delivering on-site technical support for Siemens Energy's combustion turbine-generators and their related auxiliary systems. This includes activities such as commissioning, diagnostic assessments, troubleshooting, combustion dynamics optimization, emissions calibration, and ongoing assistance for new unit setups.
Key Contributions
•
The Metrology Technician is responsible for executing metrology and alignment services for Siemens Energy turbine-generators. This role utilizes CAD and GD&T expertise, employing portable CMM tools and both long- and short-range scanning technologies.
•
The Modal Analysis and Vibration Technician provides essential services in modal analysis, vibration diagnostics, and balancing for Siemens Energy's steam and combustion turbine-generators.
•
The Steam Turbine Technician is accountable for delivering field technical services for Siemens Energy steam turbine-generators and their auxiliary systems, which includes commissioning, diagnostic evaluations, troubleshooting, valve adjustments, and ongoing support for new installations.
•
Ensuring a safe working environment is paramount. This role requires travel to customer sites across the United States and internationally, often with minimal notice. Up to 80% travel is expected. Strong leadership and organizational capabilities are essential, as the technician will lead a team of mechanics and engage with various levels of customer personnel.
•
Excellent verbal communication skills are necessary, with proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
•
Completion of detailed reports documenting all job activities is required. Flexibility to work overtime based on workload is essential, along with the ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team, often taking a leadership role. A commitment to process enhancement and sharing insights is highly valued.
Qualifications
•
A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology is preferred, or a high school diploma/GED with equivalent experience, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience for consideration at a level 7.
•
Candidates with 8 or more years of experience may qualify for a level 6 position.
•
Prior field experience in the Power Generation or Oil and Gas sectors is essential, with advanced knowledge in one or more of the following technical domains:
•
Commissioning of turbine-generator auxiliary systems
•
Combustion Dynamics Optimization
•
Metrology and Alignment Techniques
•
Modal Analysis Procedures
•
Vibration Diagnostics
•
Turbine-Generator Startup and Operations (knowledge of T3000 is advantageous)
•
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word, is mandatory.
•
Experience in interpreting and following technical drawings, schematics, and written procedures is necessary.
•
