Responsibilities:

  • Food Production and Management: Manage all kitchen activities, including food preparation and production, as well as the management and training of kitchen staff.
  • Cost Control and Efficiency: Ensure efficient and cost-effective operation and profitability of food production.
  • Cleanliness and Sanitation: Supervise and inspect preparation and cooking equipment on a regular basis to ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and optimal performance.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that food products, presentation, and plating meet the highest quality standards, and are prepared in a timely manner.
  • Leadership: Assume the role of Executive Chef in the absence of the current holder.
  • Quality Assurance: Adhere to all standards of food quality, preparation, recipes, and presentation, in conjunction with established specifications.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor holding and storage operations, stocking, and food rotation, ensuring adherence to food service sanitation standards.
  • Training and Development: Ensure kitchen personnel is trained in best cleanliness and sanitation practices.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school or GED equivalent required; formal culinary training or associate degree in culinary arts preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 2-5 years of experience in fine dining environments, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room employees, and guests.
  • Certification: Safe Food Handling Certification required.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, and stooping for extended periods, and working long hours in hot conditions.
  • Mathematical Skills: Experience calculating figures and amounts, and performing mathematical functions to meet business needs.

Salary Estimate: Based on industry standards, we estimate the salary range for this position to be between $60,000 and $90,000 per annum, depending on experience.
