Position Title: Football Video Production Specialist

Overview

The Football Video Production Specialist operates under the general guidance of the Assistant Athletics Director for Football Operations, while independently delivering video technology assistance and innovative content for the football coaching team. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing daily video services for the football staff, which includes support for practice and game footage, workstation management, technical assistance, and the creation of video content for recruitment and promotional purposes.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily video and technology services, providing expert technical support to the football staff.
  • Utilize various cameras and equipment (HD Camcorders) to capture practices, games, and other relevant content.
  • Diagnose and perform routine maintenance on video equipment.
  • Edit and organize video footage using XOS Thunder for practices, games, and highlight reels efficiently.
  • Coordinate travel logistics, prepare meeting spaces, and ensure computers are set up for coaches to access media during away games.
  • Support the client network, including software and hardware updates related to video applications.
  • Resolve technical issues on-site during practices and games.
  • Assist in the digital and analog archiving of all recorded practice and game footage from the department, other institutions, and professional teams.
  • Maintain organized archives to ensure easy access to content for the department and coaching staff.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive understanding of production techniques and equipment.
  • Proficient in using XOS Thunder and ThunderCloud for editing practices and games.
  • General knowledge of production principles and practices for educational media.
  • Strong organizational abilities to manage and coordinate production schedules, budgets, and various projects independently.
  • Leadership skills to mentor and guide students and staff towards success.
  • Capability to develop, create, and produce professional-quality visuals while assessing production effectiveness.
  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects, and/or InDesign.
  • Adept at learning new techniques and understanding operating procedures to troubleshoot equipment and systems.
  • Ability to produce a high volume of graphics while ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Capacity to accept and integrate feedback to enhance designs and adapt to evolving priorities.
  • Strong research skills and a broad knowledge of resources and techniques for effective multimedia communication.
  • Ability to anticipate and respond to changing trends, welcome new perspectives, and learn from past experiences.
  • Experience in training students involved in filming or editing practices and games, as well as graphic creation.
  • Physical capability to handle equipment weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Comfortable working at heights and filming in diverse weather conditions.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends, travel between campuses, and attend athletic events.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of two years of progressively responsible full-time experience in still and motion picture photography, with a solid understanding of video production techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in football video production within an athletic environment.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the XOS system.

Compensation

Classification: Media Production Specialist - II
Anticipated Hiring Salary: $5,250/month
CSU Salary Range: $3,949/month - $7,143/month
