Football Video Production Specialist

Job Overview:

The Football Video Coordinator operates under the guidance of the Assistant Athletics Director for Football Operations, while independently delivering video technology assistance and creative media for the football coaching team. This role is essential in planning, organizing, and executing daily video services for the football department, encompassing practice and game video support, workstation management, technical assistance, and video production for recruitment and social media outreach.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily video and technology operations, providing expert technical support to the football staff.
  • Utilize various cameras and equipment (HD Camcorders) to capture practices, games, and additional content.
  • Perform troubleshooting and basic maintenance on video equipment.
  • Edit and organize video footage of practices and games using XOS Thunder efficiently.
  • Coordinate travel logistics, prepare meeting spaces, and ensure media access for coaches during away games.
  • Support the client network with software and hardware updates related to video applications.
  • Address technical issues on-site during practices and games.
  • Assist in archiving both digital and analog video content from practices and games recorded by the department and other institutions.
  • Maintain an organized archive system for easy access to content by the department and coaching staff.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • In-depth understanding of production techniques and equipment.
  • Proficient in using XOS Thunder and ThunderCloud for editing and organizing video content.
  • General knowledge of production principles for instructional media.
  • Strong organizational capabilities to manage production schedules, budgets, and projects independently.
  • Leadership skills to guide and develop students and staff effectively.
  • Ability to create and produce high-quality visuals and assess production effectiveness.
  • Thorough knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects, and/or InDesign.
  • Capability to learn new techniques and troubleshoot equipment and systems.
  • Ability to produce a high volume of graphics while ensuring quality standards.
  • Willingness to incorporate feedback to enhance designs and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Strong research skills and familiarity with multimedia production resources.
  • Ability to respond to changing trends and learn from past experiences.
  • Experience in training students involved in filming or editing processes.
  • Physical capability to handle equipment weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions.
  • Availability for evening and weekend hours, as well as travel for athletic events.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in photography and video production techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in football video production within an athletic environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with the XOS system.

Compensation:

Classification: Media Production Specialist - II
Anticipated Hiring Salary: $5,250/month
CSU Salary Range: $3,949/month - $7,143/month
San José State University provides a comprehensive benefits package typically valued at 30-35% of the base salary.
