Job Title: Senior Documentation Specialist

Quest Diagnostics Incorporated is seeking a highly skilled Senior Documentation Specialist to join our Product Communication and Training team. As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for overseeing and delivering all customer-facing product documentation for a particular product line.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, write, and maintain technical product documentation, including supporting materials for software packages.
  • Create and maintain documentation plans to communicate with the product team about which documents will be delivered for each release.
  • Develop and maintain project plans to ensure all documents are delivered on time and error-free.
  • Represent the technical communications group at project meetings and serve as a point of contact for product-level issues.
  • Participate in feature reviews to determine the impact on product documentation.
  • Act as a resource and assign writers to feature teams as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Product Communication and Training team and product teams to develop and maintain technical product documentation standards.
  • Provide guidance on Agile practices to streamline writing delivery.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for the product.
  • Participate in peer review to ensure quality is a top priority.
  • Mentor new technical communication hires.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communication, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in technical writing or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience developing formalized business and software documentation through traditional and Agile development lifecycles.
  • 3+ years of experience with MadCap Flare or similar content authoring tools.
  • 3+ years of experience in the healthcare industry.
  • 2+ years of project leadership or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including a strong attention to detail.
  • Experience creating online help documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with the full Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with documenting large enterprise applications.
  • Basic familiarity with Web Technologies.
  • Experience with Rally, JIRA, or related project management tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, customer service, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Experience coaching other team members.
