Radiology Technologist Job Description

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team in South Elgin, Illinois.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Radiology Technologist to operate x-ray equipment, produce high-quality radiographs, and provide exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate x-ray equipment to produce radiographs of designated portions of the body as ordered by a physician
  • Accountable for the performance and documentation of all diagnostic procedures utilizing proper technical parameters to produce quality studies
  • Knowledgeable in the safe use, maneuverability, and operation of all general radiography, portable, and fluoro equipment
  • Proficient in the performance of general diagnostic procedures, including general fluoroscopy procedures, if applicable
  • Adheres to infection prevention, isolation, and sterile techniques in patient handling and delivery of care
  • Utilizes proper patient identification to ensure the correct exam is performed on the correct patient at the correct time
  • Obtains and records pertinent patient history, explains the procedure to the patient, and ensures patient comfort during the exam
  • Reviews radiographs to ensure optimum quality and reports environmental/equipment problems to appropriate resource personnel
  • Performs required computer functions for RIS/HIS systems and labels all radiographs appropriately
  • Consistently maintains an attitude of professionalism, teamwork, and collaboration with co-workers, physicians, and internal customers/departments
  • Provides positive interactions and a customer-first approach with patients and their families/caregivers and visitors
  • Participates in assessment of own learning needs and actively seeks opportunities for increased competency and growth
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • IEMA Accreditation in Radiologic Technology
  • ARRT (RT) Certification or Certificate Eligible
  • Good communication skills
  • Understanding of RIS & PACS
  • Ability to work under stressful situations
  • Ability to handle patient information in a confidential manner
  • Ability to adapt to fluctuations in patient volumes to meet patient care and department needs
Working Conditions

The Radiology Technologist will work in a fast-paced environment, rotating shifts, and may be exposed to radiation during procedures. The ability to work weekends and holidays is required to accommodate patient care needs.
