Job Summary:

The Radiology Technologist will be responsible for operating x-ray equipment to produce radiographs of designated portions of the body as ordered by a physician. You will be accountable for the performance and documentation of all diagnostic procedures utilizing proper technical parameters to produce quality studies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate x-ray equipment to produce radiographs of designated portions of the body as ordered by a physician
  • Accountable for the performance and documentation of all diagnostic procedures utilizing proper technical parameters to produce quality studies
  • Knowledgeable in the safe use, maneuverability, and operation of all general radiography, portable, and fluoro equipment
  • Proficient in the performance of general diagnostic procedures, including general fluoroscopy procedures if applicable
  • Adhere to infection prevention, isolation, and sterile techniques as it applies in patient handling and delivery of care
  • Adhere to ALARA principles in performance of exams to reduce exposure to self, the patient, and others
  • Utilize proper patient identification to ensure the correct exam is performed on the correct patient at the correct time
  • Obtain and record pertinent patient history, explain the procedure to the patient in a manner to ensure understanding, and ensure patient comfort during performance of the exam
  • Adhere to department standards of radiographic quality, review radiographs to ensure optimum quality, and report environmental/equipment problems to appropriate resource personnel
  • Perform required computer functions for RIS/HIS systems, label all radiographs appropriately following department's established criteria and standards, and consistently maintain an attitude of professionalism, teamwork, and collaboration with co-workers, physicians, and internal customers/departments
  • Consistently provide positive interactions and a customer-first approach with patients and their families/caregivers and visitors
  • Participate in assessment of own learning needs and actively seek opportunity for increased competency and growth, attend in-services to ensure knowledge of current departmental and technical procedures, and maintain appropriate state license and national board certification
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work area, ensure adequate level of supplies needed for quality patient care, and identify supplies and equipment needs for procedures, restock work area as necessary
  • Use Universal Precautions in daily performance of procedures
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • IEMA Accreditation in Radiologic Technology
  • ARRT (RT) Certification or Certificate Eligible
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays in order to accommodate patient care needs
  • Ability to work rotating shift any day of the week
  • Ability to take call and arrive on site within one hour
  • May be exposed to radiation during procedures
  • May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time or be required to lift and move patients
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials, infectious disease, and required to participate in annual emergency drills
  • Required to maintain current CPR certification
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance
