We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Radiology Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our diagnostic imaging department.
Key Responsibilities- Operate x-ray equipment to produce high-quality radiographs of designated body parts as ordered by physicians.
- Accountable for the performance and documentation of all diagnostic procedures, adhering to proper technical parameters to produce quality studies.
- Knowledgeable in the safe use, maneuverability, and operation of general radiography, portable, and fluoro equipment.
- Proficient in general diagnostic procedures, including general fluoroscopy procedures, if applicable.
- Adhere to infection prevention, isolation, and sterile techniques in patient handling and delivery of care.
- Adhere to ALARA principles in performance of exams to reduce exposure to self, patients, and others.
- Utilize proper patient identification to ensure the correct exam is performed on the correct patient at the correct time.
- Obtain and record pertinent patient history, explain procedures to patients, and ensure patient comfort during exams.
- Adhere to department standards of radiographic quality, reviewing radiographs to ensure optimum quality and reporting environmental/equipment problems to appropriate personnel.
- Perform required computer functions for RIS/HIS systems and label radiographs appropriately.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
- IEMA Accreditation in Radiologic Technology.
- ARRT (RT) Certification or Certificate Eligible, with ARRT obtained within 1 year of hire for new graduates.
- Good communication skills.
- Understanding of RIS & PACS.
- Ability to work under stressful situations.
- Ability to handle patient information in a confidential manner.
- Ability to adapt to fluctuations in patient volumes to meet patient care and department needs.
- Ability to work weekends and holidays to accommodate patient care needs.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including evenings.
- Ability to take call and arrive on site within one hour.
- May be exposed to radiation during procedures.
- May be required to sit or stand for long periods or lift and move patients.
- May be exposed to hazardous materials, infectious disease, and required to participate in annual emergency drills.
- Required to maintain current CPR certification.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.
