Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Radiologic Technologist, you will be responsible for operating x-ray equipment to produce high-quality radiographs of designated portions of the body. You will work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and efficient patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate x-ray equipment to produce radiographs of designated portions of the body as ordered by a physician
  • Accountable for the performance and documentation of all diagnostic procedures utilizing proper technical parameters to produce quality studies
  • Knowledgeable in the safe use, maneuverability, and operation of all general radiography, portable, and fluoro equipment
  • Proficient in the performance of general diagnostic procedures, including general fluoroscopy procedures, if applicable
  • Adhere to infection prevention, isolation, and sterile techniques as it applies in patient handling and delivery of care
  • Adhere to ALARA principles in performance of exams to reduce exposure to self, the patient, and others
  • Utilize proper patient identification to ensure the correct exam is performed on the correct patient at the correct time
  • Obtain and record pertinent patient history, explain the procedure to the patient in a manner to ensure understanding, and ensure patient comfort during performance of the exam
  • Review radiographs to ensure optimum quality and report environmental/equipment problems to appropriate resource personnel
  • Perform required computer functions for RIS/HIS systems and label all radiographs appropriately following departmental established criteria and standards
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • IEMA Accreditation in Radiologic Technology
  • ARRT (RT) Certification or Certificate Eligible
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include good communication skills, understanding of RIS & PACS, ability to work under stressful situations, and ability to handle patient information in a confidential manner
Working Conditions

The Radiologic Technologist will work in a fast-paced environment with rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays. The position may require exposure to radiation during procedures and may involve lifting and moving patients. The Radiologic Technologist must be able to maintain current CPR certification and adhere to departmental standards of radiographic quality.
