Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Land Surveyor to join our team at NorthStar. As a key member of our surveying team, you will be responsible for performing advanced land surveying work, supervising and reviewing the technical work of others, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of our surveying projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced land surveying work, including interpreting contracts, plans, maps, and record documents
  • Supervise and review the technical work of others, ensuring accuracy and quality
  • Prepare plans, calculations, maps, details, and specifications, and stamp and sign documents
  • Schedule and dispatch surveying teams, track hours, and coordinate job site safety
  • Supervise employees by project, train and mentor survey team members, and establish and maintain quality assurance and quality control programs
  • Project Manager responsible for preparing estimates and contracts, monitoring budget, results, and client satisfaction

Requirements:

  • Professional Land Surveyor License (PLS) in the State of California
  • 6+ years of experience in surveying, including field experience in construction, land development, or related surveys
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with related major coursework may be substituted for 4 years of experience
  • Project Management and leadership experience in a team-based environment
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, survey software, and related technical tools
  • Demonstrated record of successful job completion, budget control, and client satisfaction
  • At least two years of experience as an Assistant Surveyor or equal
  • A clean driving record and valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques for surveying and mapping
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in the operation of field survey equipment
  • Skill in project management, leading a team, delegating tasks, and managing budgets
  • Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, county, and city statutes, rules, ordinances, codes, and policies
  • Proficiency in the use of personal computers, word processing, and spreadsheet software
  • Ability to make complex computations and check plans, maps, calculations, legal descriptions, and specifications
  • Strong math skills in geometry and trigonometry

Work Environment:

Work is performed mostly in office settings, with some outdoor work required. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move heavy objects, and may be exposed to traffic, hazardous plants, insects, reptiles, and animals.

Additional Information:

Some local and/or out of town travel is required. Compensation and benefits include a pay rate of $86,207 - $110,080 based on relevant experience, medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, paid time off, 401(k) with employer matching, 8 days paid holidays, licensure/certification reimbursement, annual profit-sharing bonus, and relocation reimbursement.
