Role Overview: The Senior Project Manager for Operations plays a pivotal role as a catalyst for change, driving strategic initiatives, conducting make vs. buy assessments, and overseeing business enhancements and new product launches (NPI). This position is tasked with supporting and executing the strategic planning of various Generac Facility projects while managing the coordination of personnel and resources essential for the successful completion of these initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide project management expertise for corporate infrastructure and space planning, business continuity strategies, and cross-functional change initiatives;
  • Lead and oversee multiple projects, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, quality standards, and effective communication regarding project status, root cause analysis, and escalation processes;
  • Monitor project progress and evaluate tasks to guarantee the successful completion of assigned phases within budgetary constraints and timelines;
  • Identify project challenges and devise solutions to achieve project objectives;
  • Maintain proactive communication regarding project status, challenges, and risks with executive management, conducting regular status meetings to align with their needs;
  • Comprehend technical, operational, managerial, and sales-related issues affecting customers and staff;
  • Collaborate with the quality team to implement planning processes that assist facility leaders in achieving key program milestones;
  • Support departmental communications, planning, budgeting, and preparation for executive meetings;
  • Compile project status reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing relevant information and trends.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Industrial Technology, or equivalent experience;

Experience:

  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in Operations management within a similar environment;

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in working with diverse personalities while maintaining professionalism and flexibility;
  • Capable of managing large volumes of process data and applying statistical methods;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Adept at managing shifting deadlines and priorities in a dynamic environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others;
  • Proven capacity to lead and influence cross-functional teams and individuals;
  • Strong customer service orientation;
  • Ability to implement quality improvements and problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, DMAIC, and PDCA;
  • Understanding of financial metrics and goals within a Lean enterprise context;
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Minitab, SPC, and data analysis techniques;
  • Ability to effectively communicate executive requirements to team members.

Physical Requirements: The role involves regular communication and the use of hands for manipulating objects or controls. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk, with occasional needs to stoop, bend, or reach overhead. The position may require lifting up to 25 pounds. Specific job conditions involve frequent computer-based work necessitating periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel may be required.
