Job Title: Lead Engineer

At HDT Global, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Engineer to join our team. As a Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a technical group and contributing to team efforts by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support proposals, technical write-ups, and provide quotes to Sales and Business Development
  • Completion of activities on-time and budget while meeting applicable technical requirements
  • Lead a technical group independently
  • Develop electrical layouts based on specifications/requirements
  • Comply with the engineering playbook and work to optimize its content
  • Drive best practices and lessons learned
  • Proactively drive leadership-sponsored initiatives
  • Manage budgets, costs, and schedule inputs for projects assigned
  • Makes commitments and keeps them
  • Drive compliance with design to cost, weight, and manufacture
  • Participate in and lead technical reviews
  • Hands-on building, fitting, and testing prototypes
  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization
  • Adhere to all quality and safety standards
  • Support other projects and perform duties as assigned
  • Available for travel as required
  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel, the customer, and vendors as required
Requirements:
  • BS Engineering from an accredited school required
  • MS Engineering, PE License, and/or MBA preferred
  • 6 plus years' experience in a similar technical role with military and defense applications
  • Must be able to speak, read, and understand English
  • Able to work independently on a weekly basis
  • Competent technical expertise
  • Possesses effective oral and written communication skills
  • Comfortable with the shop/laboratory and equipment
  • Possesses quality orientation and high attention to detail
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with customers, vendors, employees, and managers at all levels within the company
  • Possesses strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint is essential)
  • Possesses strong, proven organizational and time management skills
  • Possesses strong, proven problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Possesses effective oral and written communication skills
  • Mechanically/Electrically inclined and able to problem solve with little information
  • Product development experience - concept to production release in a production environment
  • Ability to offer their own opinions and commentaries while being flexible and responsive to constructive feedback by managers and peers
  • Application of technical principles/techniques from established practices, as well as a functional knowledge/understanding of electrical engineering processes, techniques, and practices to quickly/accurately perceive the fit, form, function, and manufacturability of design
  • Possesses ability to create and check Schematics/Wiring Diagrams
  • SolidWorks and SolidWorks Electrical experience required; AutoCAD experience required
  • In-depth knowledge of ASTM E1851-15, IEEE 299, MIL-STD-285, MIL-STD-188/125, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464
  • Military/defense experience preferred
