About the Role

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Lead the design and development of revolutionary robotic surgical systems and/or surgical consumable and procedure accessories.
  • Product Characterization and Validation: Execute product characterizations, verifications, and validations to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Translate user needs into engineering requirements, utilize rapid prototyping to improve design outcomes, and gather end-user feedback.
  • Project Development and Market Introduction: Participate in cross-departmental collaboration for project development and market introduction of new products.
  • Supply Chain Management: Coordinate with suppliers to procure both off-the-shelf and custom designed mechanical and electro-mechanical components.
  • Documentation and Quality Assurance: Document product development activities through engineering notebooks, drawings, and protocol testing reports, and understand and follow applicable quality and safety procedures per regulatory standards and internal procedures.
Requirements
  • Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software, proficient with design for manufacturing and materials selection, and experience with documenting and testing mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Soft Skills: Team player with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, self-starter with the ability to manage uncertainty, push the limits, and think like an owner.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Strong understanding of currently available robotic components, including motors and encoders, experience with medical devices, and familiarity with FDA regulations.
Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office/manufacturing/clinical environment, with the main location of this role in a medical devices manufacturing facility. The position occasionally requires long hours and weekend work, and up to 10% travel, frequently outside the local area and overnight.
