About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation Operations Manager to join our team at Owens & Minor, Inc. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership and organizational skills to ensure the smooth operation of our transportation and delivery services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule and Coordinate Deliveries: Plan and schedule daily deliveries and pickups for our delivery team, ensuring timely and efficient service to our customers.
  • Manage Delivery Staff: Supervise and coach our delivery staff to ensure they are equipped to handle the demands of the job, including loading and unloading equipment and medical supplies.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all delivery staff are aware of and comply with relevant regulations, including those related to hazardous materials, hours of service, and vehicle maintenance.
  • Monitor and Improve Operations: Continuously monitor and improve our transportation and delivery operations to ensure they are running efficiently and effectively.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with our sales, customer service, and operations teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; at least 5 years of experience in transportation or logistics management.
  • Commercial Driver's License: Must possess a valid commercial driver's license with hazardous materials, cargo tank, and air brake endorsements.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Excel, MS Office, and MS Project.
  • Language Skills: English (reading, writing, verbal).
  • Mathematical Skills: College-level mathematical proficiency, with a strong ability to understand, interpret, and develop spreadsheet data.
Work Environment

The work environment for this role will be fast-paced and dynamic, with a focus on ensuring the smooth operation of our transportation and delivery services. The employee will be required to work in a variety of settings, including our warehouses, delivery vehicles, and customer locations.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this role will include regular use of hands to write, use a computer, operate a motor vehicle, and manipulate documents. The employee will also be required to read documents and write neatly, legibly, and transcribe accurate information and numbers/values. The employee will continually engage in activities that require talking and hearing.
