The Senior Lead Night Custodian is responsible for overseeing and directing the custodial staff, ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of university facilities during night shifts. This role involves supervising a team of five or more custodians while performing custodial tasks as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure cleaning tasks are performed according to departmental standards, maintaining consistency and accuracy.
  • Promote safety practices within the workplace, ensuring an accident-free environment and proper use of equipment and chemicals.
  • Conduct emergency cleanups, manage summer conference cleaning, and perform specialty floor and carpet maintenance as required.
  • Report any necessary repairs and property damages, ensuring work areas are kept clean and organized.
  • Complete visual and written inspections accurately, submitting quality control sheets and work orders promptly.
  • Manage inventory by ordering supplies as needed and maintaining accurate records of accidents, attendance, and leave.
  • Train and supervise custodial staff, ensuring they perform their duties with precision.
  • Assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

Four years of experience in custodial and maintenance work is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to instruct and manage a large team of custodians.
  • Adherence to all policies and regulations set forth by the Housing Department and Texas Tech University.
  • Capability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.

Safety Commitment:

All employees are expected to adhere to robust safety practices and comply with health and safety regulations.

Job Type: Full Time

Pay Basis: Hourly

Minimum Hire Rate: $15.20

Travel Requirements: Up to 25%

Shift Details: Monday to Friday, 4 PM to 1 AM; overtime may be required for emergencies and special events.
