Job Overview

Position Summary: The Subsea Hydraulic Control Technician is responsible for the assembly, testing, and operation of subsea production control systems and related equipment. This role emphasizes safety and quality in all operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and analyze schematics, P&IDs, and written instructions to effectively assemble and operate equipment.
  • Conduct assembly, testing, and operational procedures for subsea production control systems, drilling control HPUs, and associated hardware, adhering to industry standards.
  • Prioritize safety during all equipment operations, assembly, and testing processes.
  • Engage in safety and quality observation initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with quality processes and procedures.
  • Manage maintenance and operational tasks for rental equipment in both onshore and offshore settings.
  • Perform fluid analysis on various control fluids and chemicals.
  • Troubleshoot and identify design discrepancies, proposing enhancements as necessary.
  • Complete essential documentation, including daily reports, service tickets, and non-conformance reports.
  • Communicate with clients throughout the operational and testing phases.
  • Develop test procedures and maintenance manuals in line with customer and industry specifications.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Possess a valid passport for travel purposes.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in hydraulic topside and subsea control systems.
  • At least 2 years in an offshore service technician capacity.
  • High school diploma or GED; technical training in electrical systems or related fields is preferred.
  • Mid-level expertise in the assembly and testing of hydraulic power and control units.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Offshore safety certifications are mandatory.
  • Proficient in using computers and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within multifunctional teams.
  • Ability to balance client needs with company policies.
  • High ethical standards and a solid reputation in the industry.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to tasks.
  • In-depth understanding of hydraulic operations and components.
  • Capability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must meet physical demands typical of office, manufacturing, and offshore environments.
  • Ability to pass an offshore fit-for-duty physical examination.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Required to wear safety glasses and other PPE as necessary in manufacturing and offshore environments.
  • Additional PPE may be mandated at specific offshore locations.

Work Environment:

  • This position operates primarily in offshore environments, with a base in Houston, Texas.
  • Global offshore work locations may be involved.
