Position Overview:
San Francisco Bay University is looking for a dynamic and committed Business Practice Professor to deliver essential content in SFBU's Masters of Business Administration, Masters of Science in Business Analytics, Graduate Certificate in Business Management, and Bachelors of Science in Business programs, while also contributing to our integrated and innovative core curriculum. The ideal candidate will serve as our academic expert in business, ensuring a high-quality, student-centered educational experience that merges academic knowledge with practical, real-world applications. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty role that presents an exciting opportunity to influence the future of higher education.

Responsibilities: The Business Practice Professor will hold a 12-month position, teaching 9 courses annually. Courses are offered each term (fall, spring, summer), with teaching loads varying between 2-4 courses per term. Class sizes are limited to 20 students per course.

Teaching Excellence:
Possess extensive subject knowledge, pedagogical skills, and the ability to actively engage students while accommodating their diverse needs. We seek faculty who are motivated to create a supportive and dynamic learning environment that emphasizes clear communication, inclusivity, and continuous improvement.

Curriculum Development:
Collaborate with colleagues to develop the core curriculum, ensuring alignment with industry standards and incorporating the latest advancements in technology and emerging trends, so our students are well-prepared for their academic and professional futures.

Advisement and Mentorship:
Support students in their holistic development, wellness, academic success, and career readiness.

Inclusive Education:
Implement innovative and inclusive teaching practices that reflect our core value of providing access and inclusion to a diverse student population.

Engagement:
Encourage student engagement through collaboration with industry professionals and organizations, providing students with practical experiences through internships, research projects, and partnerships.

Quality Improvement:
Actively participate in course and program assessment design, data collection, review, and reporting. The Business Practice Professor must also commit to their professional development and contribute to the broader educational community through ongoing self-assessment and mentorship.

Professional Learning:
Engage in teacher training and professional development activities offered by SFBU's Center for Empowerment & Pedagogical Innovation (CEPI). Participate in student-centered assessments of teaching performance and stay current with developments in pedagogy and related fields by attending scholarly activities, conferences, and workshops.

Service:
Participate in various committees within the academic department and/or at the institutional level, focusing on curriculum development, student affairs, faculty governance, or administrative decision-making.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Business, Management, Finance, Leadership, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated teaching experience and a commitment to pedagogical excellence.
  • A passion for mentoring and guiding students in their academic and professional journeys.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and community partners.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education and practice.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in curriculum development or program coordination.

Salary

Starting salary with some experience ranges from $105,000 to $115,000 per year, with an initial 18-month contract that is renewable based on performance reviews.
