Position: Evening Culinary Specialist

OBJECTIVE: The Evening Culinary Specialist at Summit Hospitality is tasked with the precise and efficient preparation of all food items served during dinner hours and at designated events within meeting spaces. This role ensures the utmost quality and consistency in food preparation, handling, and presentation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED; a minimum of 2 years of experience in a recognized restaurant or hotel chain (e.g., Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt) is preferred.
  • Proficient in English, encompassing speaking, reading, and writing skills.
  • Knowledgeable in inventory management and ordering processes.
  • Exhibits high energy and a professional demeanor.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and execute recipes with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to communicate instructions clearly and positively.
  • Availability for a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position entails a commitment to a 40-hour work week, inclusive of weekends and evenings. Any hours exceeding 40 must receive prior approval from the Supervisor.
  • Prepare a diverse range of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and dairy products utilizing various cooking equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills, and fryers.
  • Complete opening and closing checklists diligently.
  • Refer to the Daily Prep List at the commencement of each shift for assigned tasks.
  • Consistently adhere to standard portion sizes, cooking techniques, quality benchmarks, and kitchen regulations, recipes, and hotel protocols.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary workspace.
  • Follow approved plating presentations and garnishing techniques for all dishes.
  • Properly handle, store, label, and rotate all products in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Ensure adequate inventory levels of food products at line stations to facilitate smooth service periods.
  • Conclude kitchen operations appropriately and assist others in closing procedures.
  • Participate in all scheduled employee meetings and contribute suggestions for enhancements and safety measures.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned by the General Manager or Manager On Duty.
  • Responsibilities may evolve, and additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Consistent work schedule.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Engage in standing, sitting, walking, reaching, and bending for extended durations.
  • Maintain a professional appearance.
  • Compliance with uniform standards, including wearing a hairnet or hat.
  • Wear clean, non-slip shoes, black pants, and a plain white apron (provided).
  • Possess a valid Driver's License.
