Healthcare Financial Support Specialist

Company Overview:
Medix is seeking a dedicated Patient Financial Advocate to join our healthcare team. This role is vital in ensuring patients receive the financial support they need throughout their healthcare journey.
Position Details:
Location: Baltimore, MD
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
Compensation: $17 - $19 per hour
Role Responsibilities:
This position entails managing pre-registration tasks and collecting essential demographic data for patient intake. Key responsibilities include:
- Performing administrative duties such as scheduling patient appointments, tests, and procedures.
- Coordinating physician referrals both internally and externally.
- Providing patients with alternative medical resources as necessary.
- Engaging in financial transactions, including following up on outstanding balances and collecting payments during appointments.
- Issuing receipts for all payments received.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), preferably Cerner.
- A minimum of one year of experience in a Patient Financial Advocate role.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to customer service.
Key Activities:
In this position, you will:
- Interact with patients both in-person and via phone.
- Assist patients in completing financial assistance applications.
- Communicate effectively with patients and caseworkers while collaborating within a small team.
- Utilize spreadsheets and Excel for data management.
- Conduct follow-ups with discharged patients to gather additional information or documentation.
