Job Title: Engineer III

Job Summary:

The Baltimore County Government is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineer III to join our team. As a key member of our Public Works and Transportation department, you will be responsible for managing various professional engineering and capital improvement projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects from planning through construction, including development of procurement documentation, technical evaluation of proposals, and coordination with external agencies.
  • Assist in the annual preparation of capital improvement budgets and programs.
  • Direct or lead professional and support staff within the section.
  • Resolve design issues, prepare and review correspondence relating to projects, and coordinate projects with external agencies.
  • Review and approve plans and specifications for roads, alleys, sidewalks, bridges, and storm drains.
  • Operate and/or oversee the operation of computers used in the development of capital projects, including GIS and computer-aided drafting and design.
  • Serve as project manager for consultant-designed projects.
  • Monitor budgets and schedules of assigned projects and approve consultant invoices for work completed.
  • Coordinate necessary utility relocations with impacted stakeholders.
  • Facilitate or participate in community meetings and public hearings for the Department.
  • Investigate and respond to resident complaints regarding County roadways.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Four years' current field or office engineering experience.
  • Possession of a certificate of registration as an Engineer in Training issued by a State within the United States of America, plus four years' field or office engineering experience.
