Job Summary


We are seeking a skilled Medical Secretary II to join our team at the University of Maryland Faculty Physicians. The ideal candidate will provide administrative support to our Orthopaedics department, performing tasks such as typing correspondence, scheduling patient appointments, and utilizing electronic systems as documented in our standard operating procedures.


Key Responsibilities



  • Greet and direct patients, visitors, and internal customers
  • Perform secretarial and clerical duties, including medical transcription, composition, and dictation
  • Prepare and process correspondence, answer routine medical inquiries, and draft letters
  • Perform medical receptionist duties as necessary, including answering the telephone and taking messages
  • Obtain, verify, and update patient information and provide support services to patients, families, and medical staff
  • Request, locate, send, and receive patient medical records

Requirements



  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a medical office setting, with knowledge of medical terminology
  • Accurate typing and data entry skills
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Basic knowledge of software used by our department
  • Knowledge of general customer service practices
  • Ability to deal effectively and diplomatically with team members and the public
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
