Job Title: Cardiovascular Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiovascular Technologist to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a Cardiovascular Technologist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with cardiovascular diseases.

Job Summary

Under general supervision, you will be responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures related to cardiovascular imaging and diagnostics. This will include operating specialty imaging equipment, such as angiograms, to obtain high-quality images for use by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Responsibilities
  • Operate specialty imaging equipment, including angiograms, to obtain high-quality images for use by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
  • Assess all parameters and performance during procedures, including hemodynamic and physiological waveforms.
  • Record hemodynamic and physiological waveforms and perform various hemodynamic and physiological calculations.
  • Maintain equipment, supply inventory, and medical inventory.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and monitor patient status.
  • Assist with basic and advanced life support.
  • Act as a resource to staff in the theory, practice, and operation of hemodynamic monitoring systems.
  • Perform analysis of existing hemodynamic system operations and implementations, recommend and implement changes and improvements in support of System Administrator and department administration to be in compliance with CMS/JCAHO standards as well as DMC Heart Hospital/Tenant guidelines.
  • Perform periodic analysis and upgrades of system to maintain data integrity and compliance.
Requirements
  • Associates degree in Science with a major in Cardiovascular Technology, or completion of a two-year accredited Cardiovascular Technology Training Program and/or equivalent combination of education and job-related experience.
  • Registration with the National Board of Cardio Vascular Testing required (RCIS) or (RCES) or ARRT registered with Cardiac/Interventional (CI) or (CV) Cardiac/Vascular Radiology Certification.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support-Healthcare Provider (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) for employees working in adult settings or Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification (PALS) for employees working in pediatric settings.
  • One or more years of direct Cardiac Cath/Peripheral Vascular/EP Lab experience required.
  • Prior experience working with assessment metrics and quality improvement processes in groups, alone, with and without immediate or direct supervision.
